Responsibilities of an Event Cyclist
Event Cyclists are critical to the success of the race, with roles that include:
Lead Cyclists: Guide participants through the designated course for the Marathon, Half Marathon, 10K, or 5K, ensuring runners stay on the correct route.
Tail Cyclists: Support runners at the back of the pack, ensuring no one is left behind and providing assistance if needed.
Route Reporting: Communicate effectively with the event crew to report on runner progress, route conditions, or any incidents requiring attention.
These roles are vital to maintaining the event’s safety standards and helping participants complete their races successfully.
Preparation and Training
To ensure all Event Cyclists are fully prepared, we offer three Ride Outs before race day. These guided sessions are designed to familiarise you with the routes and your role in the event. While participation in all three is encouraged, attending at least two Ride Outs is strongly recommended to build confidence and ensure familiarity with the course.
Who We’re Looking For
We are seeking capable cyclists who:
Have experience navigating busy routes and crowds.
Possess strong communication skills to relay information effectively.
Are reliable, responsible, and committed to supporting runners on race day.
