Southampton Hospitals Charity, proud lead local charity sponsor of the ABP Southampton Marathon, are gearing up for the 10th edition of the ABP races with their biggest goal yet.

Through their collective efforts, they support everything from specialist services to pioneering research, with the funds helping thousands each year.
Next April Southampton Hospitals Charity are leading a new fundraising initiative called ‘SHC 300’. It is then possible for everyone that wants to enter to become a representative of the charity regardless of age or skill level.
Participants are encouraged to reach a whopping fundraising goal of £300 alongside SHC in 2025. Time to hit that target is running low, with only four months to go there’s no better opportunity to get involved than now. All entries for Team SHC for 2025 are just £25, Please note you are committed to fundraising on top.
In 2024, SHC runners had all kinds of links to the organisation—families, previous patients, nurses, first-timers, and marathon junkies, all taking on various challenges. From a first-time 5K runner to a half-marathoner dressed as a Rubik’s Cube attempting to break a world record, the diversity of participants was truly inspiring. In 2024 over £20,000 was raised in funds and donations, Annie at 82 years young ran the half for SHC alongside Stewart who completed all 13.1 miles as charity mascot, Sammy Bear.
As the flagship sporting event of the South Coast, there is truly no reason to miss out. All races start and finish in the heart of the city, passing iconic local landmarks including Bargate, QE2 Anchor and St Mary’s Stadium. The Itchen Bridge is also shut exclusively for this event.
So why run for Charity SHC? Taking on a personal challenge to raise funds for a cause you genuinely care about is a truly remarkable way to make a difference. However it’s not just about money, but awareness too. For every person who sees your challenge, someone is learning about the charity and its mission. When motivation slips, support from others helps us stay focused and keep going. Running for a charity means being part of a team that encourages and supports each other to achieve a shared goal.
