The University of Southampton has once again made a significant impact at the 2024 ABP Southampton Marathon, raising an incredible total of £22,853.43, including gift aid! With over 60 runners participating, this achievement showcases the university’s dedication to supporting vital causes in the local community.
Of the total raised:
- £3,963.83 went to the Ignite Programme, the university’s social mobility and widening participation initiative, which helps students from under-represented backgrounds access higher education.
- A massive £18,889.60 was raised for the Cancer Immunology Fund, supporting groundbreaking research at the Centre for Cancer Immunology at Southampton General Hospital.
Gearing Up for 2025
After such an amazing achievement this year, the university has already set its sights on the 2025 ABP Southampton Marathon. With a fundraising goal of £25,000, the University of Southampton hopes to continue supporting these important causes. There are also ambitions to grow the team, increasing the number of runners from 60 to even more enthusiastic participants!
